Federal Foreclosures down; Monroe County seizures up
(Michael T. McKeever quoted) The
federal courts have a record of finalizing foreclosures
much quicker than the county.
It relates to some
delays by the sheriff's office in moving
foreclosure filings," McKeever said. "The
longer those delays, the more difficult it
is for the homebuyer to become current. The
delays result in a greater accumulation of
overdue payments and penalties, McKeever
argues, and the home owners aren't able to
recover. Filing in federal rather than
county court has shortened the process. It
would have saved maybe six to eight months,
or eight to 12 months.
